Press note about what published in Repubblica.it

Engineering reiterates that it has not received any notification from the investigators regarding possible links between the event blocked in the bud that affected the Group and the attack on the Lazio Region.

In relation to the recent press speculations launched by the online website Repubblica.it and indicating that the hacking attack to the Lazio region was triggered by a misconduct of an Engineering’s employee, we strongly denied any involvement in the attack, as already stated in the past few days. As of today, Engineering has not received any official communication from the relevant authorities indicating a connection between the hacking attack to the Lazio region and the deflected attempt to breach Engineering’s systems. It would be a severe breach of trust if the authorities had different information in their possession and they had not shared it with Engineering, as this could lead to a prolonged situation of danger.

As such, we want to reiterate the following:

  • 72 hours from the event, our internal analysis and detailed checks have not shown any connection between the hacking attack to the Lazio region and the deflected attempt to breach Engineering’s systems. Should we become aware of something different, we will promptly inform the relevant authorities;
  • Engineering does not provide any infrastructure or cybersecurity service to the Lazio region, differently from what has been indicated by the press.

Cybersecurity is one of Engineering’s core areas in which we make significant investments. We have a strong track record in cybersecurity thanks to our knowledge and skills underpinned by our investments. As such, we will seek all legal remedies available against those who continue to publish inaccurate and false information
