Cookie Policy
Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A. (“Engineering”) makes use of technical and third-party cookies and other tracking tools on the website www.eng.it (the “Site”). By using the Site without accepting the conditions of this policy and without accepting the installation of third-party cookies, you consent to the use of cookies according to the default settings of the Site.
About Cookies
A cookie is a small file, usually consisting of letters and numbers, that is downloaded to a device when the user accesses certain websites. Cookies allow a website to recognise a user’s device, track the user’s navigation through different pages of a website and identify users who visit a site again. Cookies do not contain information that personally identifies you, but the personal information we store about you may be linked by us to information stored in and obtained from cookies.
Tracking tools
There are also other tracking tools that, while using a different technology, enable similar processing to that carried out by means of cookies.
These tools, unlike cookies, do not store information inside the user’s device and are not removable directly by the user himself through the browser settings; it is therefore necessary for the user to avail himself of the right to revoke the authorisation to use them through the functions made available on the Site by the Controller to review his choices.
In this document, “cookies” will refer to cookies and/or tracking tools.
Session and persistent cookies
Cookies may expire at the end of a browser session (the period between the user opening a browser window and closing it) or they may be stored for a longer period of time.
Session cookies: allow websites to link a user’s actions during a browser session. Session cookies expire when the browser session ends and therefore are not kept for a long time. For this reason, session cookies can be considered less privacy intrusive than persistent cookies.
Persistent cookies: these are stored on a user’s device between browser sessions and allow the user’s preferences or actions to be stored with respect to a site (or in some cases with respect to several websites).
First and third parts
The designation ‘first- or third-party cookie’ refers to the website or domain that installs the cookie.
- First-party cookies are basically cookies set by a website visited by the user/by the website displayed in the URL window.
- Third-party cookies are cookies set by a domain other than the one visited by the user. If a user visits a website and another company sets a cookie through that website, we have a third-party cookie (as in the case of cookies set by Google or Facebook).
