Challenge
Over the years, a leading oil company has implemented a successful business model in the refinement & marketing area for the production and marketing of lubricants in the oil market. This experience gave rise to the need to equip the other branch companies in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market with the same process model defined on the European business landscape, initiating the extension of its SAP Program on a global scale.
Approach
The objective was to adapt the experience by starting a customisation process of the SAP IS-OIL platform in the first APAC countries identified (China, Singapore). In order to guarantee the achievement of the objectives that had already been obtained in other European countries, the customer chose Engineering as a reference partner, considering us to be one of the players with the greatest expertise on the IS-OIL platform.
Solution
The project to extend the SAP program in APAC countries was organized in evolutionary stages, involving a number of local players in design activities. Thanks to the experience we have gained in the IS-OIL technology landscape in Europe, we were able to carry out verticalisation and localisation of processes to ensure fiscal compliance with local regulations, achieving full customer satisfaction, with a strong focus on the end-to-end delivery of processes (sales order entry - printing) in Chinese. Thanks to the scalable and efficient characteristics of the SAP technology platform, it will be possible to develop the subsequent project phases, which involve the production of lubricant products and the marketing of fuels, as has been done on the European landscape.
