Interview with the Technology Labs Director of Engineering Albania & Serbia.

Delia Chirica-Orhei is the Technology Labs Director of Eng Albania and Eng Serbia, leading over 500 specialists in System Integration and Enterprise Solutions across the region.

Delia has extensive experience in outsourcing and operational management across various industries, including IT services, engineering, customer care, and finance. 

With a strong background in workforce management, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership, Delia is skilled at fostering innovation, improving productivity, and ensuring operational excellence in diverse, multicultural environments. Fluent in multiple languages and equipped with a solid technical and business education, she has a proven track record of driving transformation and organizational growth.

Delia holds a degree in Economics with a specialization in Informatics from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University and a master's degree in Management from Gheorghe Asachi Technical University.

1. WHAT ARE THE CORE INITIATIVES OF ENGINEERING IN ALBANIA AND SERBIA, AND HOW DO THEY SPECIFICALLY CONTRIBUTE TO ADVANCING THE GROUP’S OVERALL MISSION AND OBJECTIVES IN THE REGION?


Our focus is to scale up both countries, building local organizations. The core initiatives of our Engineering teams in Albania and Serbia are centered around innovation, operational efficiency, and digital transformation.

These initiatives are designed to support the Group’s mission by providing high-quality, scalable tech solutions, enhancing customer experiences, and driving sustainable growth within the region.  

One key initiative is the development of skilled, regionally-based talent to support the Group’s long-term growth. By investing in local training programs, certifications, and mentorship, Engineering in Albania and Serbia cultivates a strong, knowledgeable workforce that aligns with the Group’s standards and values.

2. WHICH GROWTH STRATEGY DO YOU PLAN TO IMPLEMENT TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN TALENT, ESPECIALLY WITHIN THE INCREASINGLY COMPETITIVE AI LANDSCAPE?


We plan to implement a growth strategy focused on professional development, impactful projects, flexibility, and a strong culture of innovation.

We will offer targeted training and mentorship programs to ensure that our employees not only excel in AI but also develop a broad range of skills essential for their careers. 

Investing in continuous learning and development, offering challenging and high-impact projects, creating a flexible, inclusive working environment, and fostering research and development are the main drivers we will use to ensure both current and future growth.

3. WHAT TECHNOLOGY SKILLS ARE CURRENTLY IN HIGH DEMAND IN THE REGION, AND HOW ARE TRAINING PROGRAMS EVOLVING TO ADDRESS THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF CRITICAL SKILLS?


There is a growing demand for technology skills that align with global digital transformation trends, particularly in software engineering, data science, enterprise platforms, and cloud computing.

Both countries, Albania and Serbia, are experiencing rapid development in their tech sectors. Universities and tech hubs are collaborating to create specialized courses that address these critical skill areas. As more businesses shift to cloud-based solutions, skills in cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure are highly valued. 

Moreover, expertise in Augmented Enterprise Platforms, including SAP for ERP and Salesforce for CRM, is critical. Skills in automation platforms like UiPath and ServiceNow are valuable, especially for AMS, where efficiency is key.

To address these requests, we continue to invest in our Academy by offering a wide range of training opportunities, also in collaboration with strategic partners, aiming to develop local talents and stimulate continuous innovation.

4. WHAT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES WILL YOU PROVIDE TO PROMOTE CONTINUOUS LEARNING AND GROWTH FOR EMPLOYEES IN NEARSHORING?


To promote continuous learning and growth, we plan to implement a comprehensive professional development program that combines technical skills training, leadership development, and personalized growth pathways.

5. LOOKING AHEAD, HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE EVOLUTION OF ENG ALBANIA AND ENG SERBIA OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS, AND WHAT ROLE WILL THEY PLAY IN THE LARGER CONTEXT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION?


Over the next five years, both delivery centers will strengthen their roles as key drivers in the digital transformation: Albania is expected to become a hub for agile development while capitalizing on its growing tech talent, whereas Serbia, with its mature IT sector, will focus more on complex responsibilities, such as AI initiatives and systems architecture, leveraging its advanced engineering capabilities.

Together, these nearshoring centers will enhance operational efficiency, accelerate innovation, and support the company’s adaptability, ensuring that Eng maintains a competitive edge in digital evolution.
