Stefano De Capitani at ANCI: “Constructive partnership between PA and companies for a more citizen-focused governance ”

During his speech at the Assembly, the Vice President of Engineering and CEO of Municipia reaffirmed the centrality of cutting-edge technologies in bringing local authorities to a new level of efficiency.

Stefano De Capitani, Vice President of Engineering and CEO of Municipia, spoke today at the 41st edition of the ANCI Assembly during the panel discussion titled “Let’s Build Italy Day by Day for... Vittoria who works in an intelligent Italy.”

Stefano De Capitani stated: “In recent years, local authorities have undertaken significant digitalization efforts to bridge technological gaps, not only in key areas like cloud migration, citizen experience, data platform adoption, and cybersecurity but also in more strategic and innovative domains such as Artificial Intelligence. It is a challenging journey still marked by some delays and difficulties, which, however, can be overcome by investing in training, streamlining complex administrative processes, and overcoming resistance to change. New technologies are the tools that can elevate local authorities to a new level of efficiency and bring about a complete improvement in citizen services, but strategic vision and specialized skills are indispensable. We are convinced that Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), grounded in authentic and constructive collaboration between public and private sectors, are the key mechanism to bridge gaps and accelerate digital transformation. By transferring part of the risks and project complexities to the private partner, PPPs allow authorities to access the most advanced technologies and benefit from external, highly qualified, and constantly updated expertise, enabling them to focus on strategic aspects such as defining goals and controlling outcomes.. Municipia – along with the entire Engineering Group – is at the forefront of this journey, supporting local administrations with tailored, innovative, and sustainable solutions that help them tackle the challenges of digital transition and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public services. This is the only way we can contribute to the modernization of the country.”

Engineering, a leading company in digitalization processes for businesses and public administration, headed by Maximo Ibarra, supports, through Municipia, its group subsidiary with over 700 employees and 30 offices across Italy, 500 municipalities of all sizes in their digital transformation journey. This includes innovative services realized through private investments, operational risk absorption, and initiatives in financial and environmental sustainability, security, mobility, welfare, and interactivity. The goal is to improve citizens' quality of life by embracing the new urban vision of Augmented Cities, addressing crucial sectors such as security, waste management, mobility, social policies, enhancement of cultural sites, and tourism development, as well as energy efficiency, leveraging technologies such as AI, IoT, Cloud, and Digital Twins.

In addition to Stefano De Capitani, the panel “Let’s Build Italy Day by Day for... Vittoria who works in an intelligent Italy,” moderated by Monica Giandotti, RAI journalist and television presenter, featured contributions from Veronica Bernabei, Mayor of Valmontone; Giuseppe Falcomatà, Mayor of Reggio Calabria; Claudia Ferrari, Mayor of Sarmato; Paolo Maggioli, CEO of Maggioli Group; Mariangela Marseglia, Vice President and Country Manager of Amazon Italy and Spain; Elio Schiavo, Chief Enterprise and Innovative Solutions Officer at TIM; Vincenzo Telesca, Mayor of Potenza.
