Engineering at Seafuture 2023 with its solutions to explore, monitor, and secure the underwater environment

The Group is among the 300 companies and over 70 foreign Naval forces participating in the eighth edition of the International Exhibition on maritime and dual-use technologies.

Engineering, a leader in the digitalization of processes for businesses and public administrations, is participating in the 8th edition of Seafuture. The business and technical-scientific convention, organized by Italian Blue Growth srl in collaboration with the Italian Navy and together with the excellence of the naval industry, entities, and governments, is held at the Naval Base of La Spezia and involves the main players of the sea economy, SMEs, representatives from the academic and research world, as well as marine and maritime technology clusters.

Dario Buttitta, Executive Vice President PA & Healthcare at Engineering, states: “Today, the global economy, as well as the well-being and security of people, increasingly depend on the efficient operation of critical underwater infrastructures. This is even more true in a country like Italy, where the sea is one of its most strategic resources. In this context, new technologies are essential drivers to ensure efficiency, defense, and resilience in the underwater domain. Thanks to more than 20 years of expertise in the maritime and underwater domain and our proven competence in cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, at Engineering, we create digital solutions to explore, monitor, and manage the underwater environment, helping to improve knowledge and awareness through the use of data and ensuring everyone’s safety”.

Engineering, one of the first technology players to take part in the activities of the National Underwater Dimension Center, established by the recent 2023 Budget Law to create close collaboration between the Italian Navy and the sector's industries, is present at booth D42 at the Seafuture Exhibition to present and showcase some of its solutions developed in the Underwater domain:

  • Water Space Management, the system that supports the underwater operations of the Italian Navy
  • Echo System, the platform to classify objects detected in open sea through the analysis of acoustic signals acquired via sonar sensors
  • CIDOIMO, the decision support platform for classifying targets, both anthropogenic and non-anthropogenic, detected in open sea using innovative AI techniques applied to acoustic signals and frequency spectra
  • BISS, the solution based on innovative algorithms capable of identifying and tracking an underwater object in critical environments (deep, shallow, or murky waters) using bi-static sonar sensors
  • RECON UV, the system for underwater reconnaissance and clearance of the sea area in front of a landing beach, capable of supporting personnel in high-risk operations.
