URBANITE: Data–driven decision-making in urban transformation

ABSTRACT
Facilitate urban mobility policy decision-making by exploiting data with an ICT ecosystem built upon disruptive technologies.

Where: international
Challenge
European urban environments are undergoing a mobility revolution driven by population growth and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the increasing importance of data in creating intelligent urban systems, numerous challenges remain. Data sets are often inaccessible or scattered across various sources, systems lack effective integration, and there's a limited understanding of the impact of disruptive technologies on cities.
Approach
URBANITE empowers decision makers to perform smart, accurate, efficient policy making through an effective adoption of disruptive technologies and co-creation practices.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
The project develops tools for the collection, organization, integration, storing and visualization of data. It enables the analysis of current situations and trends and the simulation and prediction of different situations. It engages citizens and civil servants in the policy making process through co-creation practices and tools and it provides policy makers with guidelines on the adoption of disruptive technologies. Project results are validated in Amsterdam, Bilbao, Helsinki and Messina. Engineering leads the activities related to supporting the 4 cities in the customization of URBANITE tools and it leads the implementation of the digital co-creation environment. The project has received co-funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme - Contract No. 870338.
