ENERSHARE - The energy data space for Europe

Our project to facilitate the transition of the energy systems towards more smart and decentralized paradigms thanks to the secure data exchange and sharing among all the energy value chain stakeholders.

Where: international
Challenge
The ongoing energy system digitization is making available an enormous amount of data, paving the way for cross-value chain services enabled by data sharing, which may contribute to system-level increased efficiency and hence facilitate the energy transition. However, data sharing in the energy sector is lagging behind, mainly due to lack of trust and to the risk of privacy breaches.
Approach
In that respect ENERSHARE facilitates the energy sovereign and trusted data exchange and sharing, enabling thus the transition of current energy systems towards more smart and decentralized paradigms, capable of taking full advantage of renewable sources at the local level.
Solution

ENERSHARE defines a Data-Driven Reference Architecture for the energy domain, which is compliant with FIWARE,IDSA and GAIA-X. It creates a marketplace based on Blockchain and Smart Contracts with the aim of improving mutual trust amongst the actors of the ecosystem and increasing the security of the shared data. It also enables a compensation system (even non-monetary) of assets and resources related to data (e.g., datasets, algorithms, models) with energy assets and services (e.g., maintenance of heating system, surplus transfer of locally self-produced energy). Engineering coordinates the project consortium composed of 30 partners and significantlhy contributes to the development of the resulting Energy Data Space.

The project has received co-funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme - Contract No. 101069831
