Challenge
The European Commission has initiated the Single Digital Gateway Regulation (SDGR) as an important step to implement the digital revolution in Europe. It helps cross-border citizens to solve many procedures and receive the necessary assistance, providing the user with an easy and interactive guide.
Approach
ACROSS enables the user-centric design and implementation of public digital services, which are interoperable and compliant with the current European regulations, where the private sector can also interconnect its services while ensuring the data sovereignty of the citizens. The project is developed and tested in three countries (Greece, Germany, and Latvia), which are at different stages in their digital transformation journey.

ACROSS focuses on the creation of an information exchange platform that the users can manage. The information is decentralised and there is no need to log in. Essential aspects of the platform are a straightforward interface for service providers and users, a well-documented methodology and governance framework. A mobile application is one of the ways to get access to exchanged data. Most importantly, ACROSS creates a bridge between local EU governments, facilitates communication and data exchange, and reduces the stress of moving across EU borders. Engineering is responsible of the overall architecture and of the data harmonization tools. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No: 959157 (H2020-SC6-GOVERNANCE-2018-2019-2020).
