We improved the organization, consistency and lead times of our Client's North American subsidiary logistics flows, through process automation and change management activities.

Challenge
E80 Group, established in Viano, Reggio Emilia, in the 1980s, specializes in the development of automated logistic solutions for daily consumer goods manufacturing companies in the beverage, food and tissue sectors and other diversified areas. Prior to this project, it executed all activities for delivery process manually, and, only at the end, its IT systems were updated. For this reason, the process lead time was longer and the misalignments between the physical flow and the data updated in the system were relevant.
Approach
Our goal has been to automate the logistic process in order to better control the stock, reset the backorder volume, manage the shipment cost, improve the lead time in logistic flow. All of the activities were carried out remotely for our Clientìs North American subsidiary, based in in Chicago.
Solution
We structured the project in two phases:
- Modeling: a first design phase, which main outcome is the Blueprint with the detailed description of the "in scope" business processes and requirements to build the IT system
- Implementation: the scope of this phase is the implementation of what was defined in the modeling phase.
We implemented the SAP WM module with radio frequency transaction in order to obtain the best control of the inventory and the system update in real time. All of the activities related to the shipment flow (picking, packing, shipment document, shipment cost, invoice) are updated in the system and integrated. Thanks to this project, we managed to achieve the benefits expected by the Client, both in terms of improved logistics lead time and reset of backorder volume.
