Challenge
Alpitour is a travel operator specializing in arranging and booking travel worldwide. Following several acquisitions, the company found itself having to handle an increasing number of support and booking requests. Alpitour had a too slow technological architecture that did not allow it to stay in the market and in line with customer needs.
Approach
It was necessary for the travel operator to have a platform that could formulate travel information and send it to users and agencies as quickly as possible. It was also necessary to accelerate the time-to-market of these new services and to implement online booking processes to make users totally independent.
Solution
Engineering, together with TIBCO, proposed to implement an API-based integration strategy consisting of various modules and microservices. Alpitour was then able to equip itself with a modern Red Hat Openshift platform, which provides various modules to enable the company to deploy microservices. By using TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition, we accelerated the app development and data integration through predefined frameworks and a wide range of connectors to endpoints and enterprise data sources. With this solution, which caches updated flights and hotels data every night, Alpitour customers can quickly and easily check the latest hotel and flight availabilities, prices, travel options, and more. Today, Alpitour can offer its customers a modern travel booking experience, thanks in part to the ease of integration with external agencies.
