EasyCloud: an off-the-shelf solution to sell IaaS resources

ABSTRACT
The project provides a toolset to allow companies to easily create an IaaS resource shop to sell their spare resources easily and effectively.

Where: italy
Challenge
The project addresses both the needs of companies already in the IaaS business and the needs of large companies owning data centers who are not in the IaaS business and would like to transform unallocation into a business opportunity.
Approach
EasyCloud aims at enhancing Cloudesire offering allowing companies to create their own IaaS marketplace and ecosystem including a customizable metering and billing engine, while also applying resource usage optimisation. With EasyCloud companies are going to be able to start a “VDC as-a-service" and/or “Kubernetes tenant as-a-service" business model. The project has received co-funding by EIT Digital in the Digital Tech Action Line for 2020. EIT Digital is supported by the EIT, a body of the European Union.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
Engineering D.HUB coordinates and is responsible of the activities for the creation of IaaS marketplaces, integrating OpenStack and VMware. Engineering’s R&D department mainly integrates in EasyCloud solution the cloud resources benchmarking capabilities. With EasyCloud companies already present in IaaS business will be able to modernize and accelerate their customer acquisition and management process by selling a bulk amount of computational resources (CPU, RAM and storage) over the Web. Large companies owning a data center but not in IaaS business will be able to sell reserve resources through the auto-provisioning of complex OpenStack / VMWare VDCs and dedicated Kubernetes environments. The integrated automation in EasyCloud reduces the time to market and operational costs for environment preparation.
