Engineering is the Main Partner of the Stem Women Congress in Milan, an event dedicated to promoting female talent in science and technology

Engineering is the main partner of the event, which brings together institutions, companies, schools, research bodies, industry associations, youth, and stakeholders to discuss and debate the need to overcome the gender gap in STEM fields.

The company will participate in two panels to explore the reasons behind the low presence and visibility of women in technical and scientific professions.

Engineering, a leader in digital transformation for businesses and public administration, is the main partner of the STEM Women Congress (Milan, May 28), an international initiative taking place in Italy for the first time aimed at bridging the gender gap in STEM fields.

With its participation, Engineering aims to support and inspire new generations of women to pursue careers in STEM, contributing to the digital transformation of our country and creating a more equitable and inclusive work environment.

This is a concrete commitment to bringing about the cultural change necessary for girls and young women to have access to education, training, and careers in scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical fields, and to create a more inclusive future for women in this sector.

"IT companies can do a lot to reduce the gender gap in tech," Marcella Tesone, Group Talent, Change & DEI Director at Engineering, emphasizes. "In addition to removing biases and perceptual prejudices that hinder girls from entering the tech world, they have a responsibility to promote the culture that working in this field is possible even with a non-STEM background. At Engineering, we are committed to valuing and developing cross-disciplinary skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and analytical ability. Diversity remains the key word. Only by bringing together different perspectives can we create the most innovative solutions."

The day will feature a mix of company presentations and panel discussions on projects supporting and developing female careers in the scientific and technological fields, followed by orientation sessions, workshops, and “speed dating” to facilitate meetings between candidates and companies.

Engineering will participate in two panels: Francesca Meriggi, Group Chief Information Officer, will discuss her passion for STEM and her personal and professional journey to becoming a CIO, while Emanuele Cacciatore, Director Offering, Innovation & Deal Management, will speak in the panel “AI in Action: Skills and Synergies for the Future,” sharing our perspective on managing discriminatory biases in AI systems and models, and the gender gap in AI-related skills.

Engineering will also have a stand, where information about career paths within the company will be provided, and in the afternoon will be active in speed dating with candidates.

A company strongly focused on human capital, Engineering has increased its commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive work environment during its transformative process over the past two years. In its recently approved Strategic Sustainability Plan, the Group led by Maximo Ibarra has set significant goals, including increasing the percentage of women in the company to 35% by 2025 and raising the percentage of women in leadership roles in Italy to 22% by 2026.

Regarding training and reskilling, Engineering is also engaged in a series of initiatives through its IT & Management Academy. Among these are the Women Think Tech Academies, courses aimed at encouraging the entry of women without STEM backgrounds by helping participants experience technology firsthand and explore a profession where diverse backgrounds become a value for the company and its clients.
