Engineering at 5G&CO

Artificial Intelligence as a strategic driver for the development of the Telco & Media sector.

AI is at the core of the development in the Telco and Media sector through constant integration with cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, to create high-performance, secure digital ecosystems capable of offering increasingly immersive services and enabling solutions that bring real benefits to citizens. This is one of the key messages that Engineering, a leader in digital transformation for businesses and public administration, conveyed at the 5G&Co conference, organized by CNIT, which took place in Rome on April 16 and 17. During the two-day event, Engineering was represented by CEO Maximo Ibarra, Nello Luzi (Telco & Media Executive Director), and Giuseppe Sajeva (Technical Director, PNT Italia).

In an interview with Andrea Biondi of Sole24Ore, Maximo Ibarra explained how a Digital Transformation Company like Engineering can support the growth and innovation of the Telco sector: “Through our expertise in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, and thanks to our deep industry knowledge, Engineering focuses on 3 main areas: ensuring and enhancing the business continuity of existing platforms; enabling their evolution by using AI to optimize network resources and create increasingly data-oriented and therefore customizable services; and creating digital ecosystems that allow Telco and Media players to forge synergies with operators from other markets, such as Energy or Fintech. These are three challenges we tackle with our proprietary solutions and in partnership with major international Tech Players.”

In the “5G and Artificial Intelligence” panel, Nello Luzi explained: “AI and 5G are two technologies that are absolutely complementary, and by interacting synergistically, they create an advanced technological ecosystem where edge computing can be enabled, IoT can be expanded in strategic sectors such as Industry 4.0, smart cities, and intelligent transport networks, and the interaction between humans and machines can be improved.”

Giuseppe Sajeva, speaking in the “5G and Healthcare” panel, discussed the benefits of Telemedicine and the roadmap for the National Telemedicine Platform, developed by Engineering together with Almaviva: “The development of telecommunication technologies, particularly high-performance and reliable networks such as 5G, is enabling new ways of patient care, especially for those with vulnerabilities and the elderly, who can access healthcare services directly from their homes. In this context, the National Telemedicine Platform will provide governance and monitoring models and tools to optimize care pathways, spreading best practices.”
