Research Project

CiTRACE: the increased traceability of oranges, from the field to juice

ABSTRACT
Creation of new products and services for precision agriculture and supply chain traceability.

Where: italy
Challenge
Agrifood is defined as "the last billion dollars' industry to be digitized" due to the cultural and structural resistances, which prevent the spread of technologies. ICT solutions are being created providing optimizations, but they are strictly verticalized by creating application silos and making it difficult to create value from the info collected.
Approach
The CiTRACE project aims to overcome the silo-based vision by creating advanced traceability, a meta system capable of enhancing information and optimizing processes and by allowing the digital penetration along the entire supply chain.
Solution
In CiTRACE the data are being processed through Big Data Analytics applications thanks to the integration of the services offered by the ALIDA platform. The project solution is also aligned with European specifications for secure data scabbing and cloud data management such as IDSA and Gaia-X, thanks to the use of the TRUE Connector component. Engineering evolves the technological building blocks of the Digital Enabler and develops the powered-by-FIWARE CiTRACE Digital Platform for the collection, harmonization and visualization of data generated by the different and heterogeneous sources involved in the phases of the supply chain. The project has been funded with PON Funds "Enterprises and competitiveness" 2014-2020 ERDF and the Fund for sustainable growth.
