Orvieto enters the Metaverse

The city as an immersive experience: a new perspective on the discovery of a historic city rich in culture, art and services

Where: italy
Challenge
Our aim is not to replace the on-site visit, but to enhance it by offering a virtual tour that increases the perception and enjoyment of the city and removes any kind of barrier to make the experience truly inclusive.
Approach
We have designed an ecosystem where it is possible to use public services, cultural and artistic heritage, 3D exhibitions/shops, information content and much more. The solution includes an app for Oculus and the proposed content is 360° photos and videos of the city with the three-dimensional reconstruction of the environments.
Anna, the avatar and mascot of the city, guides the user through the simulation, which can be used with traditional devices and 3D headsets. The interactive game starts from space, allowing the user to view the city from above, and then lands in Piazza Duomo. From here, the user enters various virtual rooms where they can interact with objects, view and receive multimedia information about museums, attractions and typical products, or enjoy virtual tours of the main sights. It is also possible to request an identity card using NFT technology and thus become a citizen of the city of "Orvieto in the Metaverse".
