Data Week 2023
Engineering's R&I team is participating in the event with several speeches.
08:00 - 19:00
Data Week 2023 serves as the spring gathering for the European Big Data and Data Driven AI research and innovation communities. It offers a premier opportunity to share knowledge and results, engage in discussions of common interests, foster synergies, build new collaborations, and identify emerging challenges and recommendations.
Co-organized by the Big Data Value Association and the EUHubs4Data project in collaboration with the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), Data Week 2023 offers a dynamic program consisting of engaging sessions, insightful panels, and inspiring talks. The event brings together high-level speakers from European and national levels, representing the Big Data Value and Industrial AI industries, alongside renowned research experts. The central theme of "Data Meets Infrastructure at the Edge" shapes the discussions, exploring the most relevant topics and upcoming developments in the community across technology, research, policy, and society.
Data Week 2023 offers European Research and Innovation projects a platform to present their findings and celebrate their achievements. Our colleagues from the R&I lab will serve as moderators or speakers in various sessions:
- Participatory data for innovation (June 13, 1 pm): Antonio Filograna will showcase the DECIDO project and explain how the data gathered from the co-creation sessions organised within the context of the project piloting activities will be effectively exploited.
- Data spaces for Autonomous (level 4) Factories, Smart Product-Services and resilient Value Networks (June 14, 1 pm): Davide Dalle Carbonare (co-leader of the Smart Manufacturing Industry group at BDVA) will chair this session focused on discussing common concepts and definitions, elaborate on SotA and Best Practices and analyze opportunities, challenges and barriers about the development of Manufacturing data spaces for Europe.
- AI and Data Spaces for sustainable smart city – water and other key resources challenges (June 14, 2 pm): Roberto Di Bernardo will participate this session presenting insights from the Waterverse project, while Antonio Filograna will share the experience gained from TEMA: Trusted Extremely Precise Mapping and Prediction for Emergency Management. The objective of this session is to share knowledge and results towards the creation of a harmonised and federated ecosystem based on the data space, focusing on the water sector and related data-driven ecosystems.
- Towards the implementation of High Value Datasets – First hands on (June 14, 3:30 pm): Roberto Di Bernardo will moderate the workshop which is focused on exploring how projects funded under the topic Public Sector Open Data for AI can support the actual implementation High Value Datasets in EU territories for the benefit of local communities, following the Implementing Act on High Value Datasets from the European Commission. Antonio Filograna will participate the panel talking about the SPOTTED project.
- Exploiting the opportunities of Energy Data Platforms (June 14, 5 pm): Massimo Bertoncini will be a key speaker in this session which is dedicated to providing insights into the opportunities opened up by Energy Data Platforms, both from a technical and business perspectives.
- Building a Cognitive Cloud-Edge Continuum for Next-Generation Data Processing Applications (June 14, 5:30 pm): Davide Dalle Carbonare will present TALON, an EU project dedicated to the development of a fully-automated AI architecture that will bring intelligence to the edge in a flexible, adaptable, explainable and energy efficient manner.
