Founded in Barcelona in 2019, the STEM Women Congress is coming to Italy for the first time on May 28th at the BASE space in Milan.
The goal is to ensure that girls and young women can access studies, training, and careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
This congress represents a crucial step in bridging the gender gap in the STEM world, a field where women are still underrepresented, as highlighted in the 2023 annual report of the STEM Women Association, in which Engineering is actively involved.
The Stem Women Congress includes a series of presentations and project-sharing panels, with participation from Francesca Meriggi, Group Chief Information Officer, who will share her academic and professional journey in the STEM world and the challenges she faced that led her to become CIO of Engineering. Additionally, Emanuele Cacciatore, Director Offering, Innovation & Deal Management, will represent Engineering on the panel “AI in Action: Skills and Synergies for the Future,” where he will present our perspective on managing the risks of discriminatory biases in AI systems and models, and on the gender gap in skills related to the field of Artificial Intelligence.
There will also be interactive sessions between candidates and companies, meetings with associations, and brainstorming sessions to share ideas as concrete actions towards a more inclusive and equal future.
With its participation, Engineering intends not only to support but also to inspire the new generations of women to pursue careers in STEM, thus contributing to the digital transformation of our country and the creation of a fairer and more inclusive work environment.
