HeReMo: Health Remote Monitoring

A research project for the implementation of monitoring personal well-being and environmental factors.

Approach & Solution

Approach

The service aims to prevent already vulnerable patients from being affected by COVID-19, thereby avoiding overloading the healthcare system. Additionally, HeReMo correlates COVID-19 symptoms with environmental conditions, supporting the (epidemiological) analysis of its spread.

The ability to utilize satellite data also allows patients to be informed about the air quality in their area, reducing the risk of exposure to air pollutants.

HeReMo is part of a long research and innovation journey undertaken by Engineering for the well-being of patients.

Solution

HeReMo was conceived to progressively and firmly encourage patients to adopt appropriate lifestyles based on their health conditions and risk categories. This patient profiling is conducted by healthcare professionals (e.g., general practitioners, specialists, nurses, etc.), who thereby create a digital ID for the patient.

Engineering played a key role in developing the solution by handling end-user applications and the overall architecture.

This project was co-financed by the European Space Agency as part of its Business Applications program. Contract No. 4000133997/21/NL/AF (Space in response to the COVID-19 outbreak).
